thermal
modelling
TAS is a Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM)
package that creates extremely accurate simulations of the
thermal performance of buildings.
The system uses annual weather data to
model how a building performs. At its simplest level the system
can be used to produce heating and cooling loads for the use in
designing air conditioning systems using single design days. By
using the annual weather data is is possible for the designer
and the end-user to then check the frequency of different
conditions so that they can make judgements on the design
requirements of the building. For instance, they could design to
raise the summer set-point, to reduce comfort cooling size, if
they know the likely frequency of temperatures occurring.
It can be used to evaluate mixed mode and
natural ventilation schemes and how they would impact on or how
they could be integrated into heating and comfort cooling
schemes. Using simple controls functions thermostatically
controls dampers can be simulated to model free cooling
strategies.
To compliment our commitment to reducing
carbon emissions the system will also accurately model the
energy performance of the building allowing the user to estimate
energy consumption, carbon emissions and operational costs.
We can use this to produce benchmarks
against which to compare your building and to evaluate the
impact of energy saving strategies proposed for your systems. In
all TAS has become a valuable tool to help us help our clients
achieve their environmental and commercial aims. |
